Kaduna state occupies part of the central position of the northern part of Nigeria. The capital Kaduna served as the capital of colonial master, Federick Luggard when he moved from Zungeru, capital of northern Nigeria, North central state and now Kaduna.
Arewa house was the residence of Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto and the former premier of the Northern region, and the first chancellor of ABU Zaria. The house was taken over by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1979 and was transformed to a center for historical documentation and research. The house has a well equipped research library and archive and exhibition galleries.
